Project Runway Post

THE BEST MAN WON!
Photobucket

SETH AARON!
Now I'm not going to post a million pictures because you can find those anywhere (although I will say the best place to get them is here) There's just one thing I wanted to point out that I hadn't noticed until my 5th reviewing of his collection...

He did not go for the skinniest models in the room.  These girls are skinny no doubt, but so often on project runway the designers just make the smallest sizes they can and then get the skinniest "highest fashion" models they can, and then half the time their garments don't even fit those models.  Rookie designers don't want to look like rookie designers so they hope to hide that behind professional looking models but then if you're not a good enough seamstress, it shows right away because either everything's too big or too tight.  SA is a fantastic tailor and put the clothes on girls who could wear them best and I really think it helped him.

Maybe it's because he's straight or maybe it's because he has a teenage daughter at home and (like many of us) can't stand seeing the emaciated girls.  Whatever it was, good call Seth A.

Help Me, Help You, Help Me

I'm trying to receive another scholarship to LIM and in order to do that I need to WIN!  This contest.
All you need to do is sign in (I know) to this site and vote for my looks.  The top ten looks will be judged by judges and then a winner (3) will be chosen.

Sadly you can only vote once but I can't vote at all!  So have fun and maybe you can even start styling yourself.  Normally I wouldn't ask for anything but your readership but there you go.

Grandma Wouldn't Approve

While I was searching for Brigitte's pants I came across these babies......

Crocheted Hot Pants.

God bless America.

Recreate the Look: Sylvie Vartan and Brigitte Bardot

(click for full)
My new favorite picture!  Just a Bulgarin/French popstar and a French actress/fashion icon hanging out and having fun.  The both look so comfortable, not only where they are but in themselves, and why shouldn't they?  Here's a chance for you (us) to get just a LITTLE bit closer to that kind of poise and awesome:

Sylvie:

Brigitte:
B's little sweater and pants have proven to be harder to find - so here are some options...

Now get all the liquid liner, peroxide, and attitude you can muster and go to town!

Oh and by the way...

I GOT INTO LIM!

(Laboratory Institute of Merchandising)

Finally watched...

The Doors.  Will be doing a fashion post on it soon.
Not a masterpiece - but Val's performance is pretty close - for realz, I'm in love with the guy but I kept forgetting it was him and not Jim Morrison.  Oh and Crispin Glover's 2 minute part as Andy Warhol is worth the price of admission - RIDICULOUS.  If only it had been directed by someone whose actually a fan of music and not you know...insane in the membrane.

My favorite Doors songs:
Love Her Madly
Been Down So Long
Five To One
Whiskey Bar/Alabama Song (HAHA they didn't write it)
Break On Through

Now I'm going to be honest here, I don't think Jim Morrison was a genius. OH MY GOD WHAT?  No I just don't.  I think The Doors are fantastic but owe it all to 1) Jim's voice 2) Their killer music and playing skills 3) Ray Manzarek 4) The time they came out in and 5) Jim's face
In my humble opinion - Jim could have been singing the phone book (and some nights he practically was) and you would have had the same reaction.
Do I have to hand it my Rock & Roll fan club membership card?  I sure hope not, because if The Doors were playing around the corner - I'd do whatever I could to get in.

Can't get enough of this site

Okay so I already commented on this (on their site) with a necklace suggestion but I want to provide some more because - I love it

Link
"The first thing you should understand about Justice Hall's mom: she's 17 in this picture. When I was 17 I still hadn't learned how to look directly into the camera, and you better believe I wasn't bold enough to blow up and sex out my hair and be all "what?" But Mrs. Hall was born with style chutzpah. That's probably why she became a cosmetology teacher who taught hair stylists how to do what she was doing as a freaking teenager."

I adore her necklace as well so I'm on the hunt for a substitute - there's something almost Star Trek about hers which is the aesthetic I would love to duplicate but frankly sci-fi jewelery is hard to come by...

LOVE THIS ONE.  It's so delicate yet has a presence and a strength that says it WILL get noticed - and I love that you could hang a pendant from it or keep it as is.

Just incase you want something a little more subtle.

Look og the Week: Angelina Jolie & Knox

Oh honey.  LOL
The range of faces is priceless.

WAAAAAAAAAAH

I LOST MY OLD COMPUTER
AAAAHHHHHHH

Lost in the sense that a person who is on the operating table whose "gone" is "lost".  It didn't get up and wander off when I was in the other room and hasn't heeded my cries of "Computer? Hard Drive? All of the files I've been saving for the past 5 years?"
I've been rebuilding while also attempting to get into colleges (Arcadia University and Cazenovia College are a GO so far!) so that's why I haven't been here.  I'm just forgetting about the rest of the award shows because there's too much to do and too much back tracking that would have to happen to do it.  Next season, I promise.

Time for me to turn you onto another blog! Wait...why would I do that?  Oh right, it's completely and utterly STELLAR.
http://momstyleicons.blogspot.com/
This is a site dedicated to awesome moms and the awesome kids that love them.  It showcases their mom's (and sometimes grandmom's) style and includes a little blub about the strong woman in question.  Urban Outfitters is doing a piece in cooperation with them and the latest New York Mag Weddings issue is too (LOVE IT)
There has yet to be a post on this site that hasn't inspired me and or tickled my fancy.
I <3 moms.  I'll be finding a couple of pictures of my own (and maybe grandma too) and sending them in.  You should too!

Finally just a (mental) image that I love:
[At first glance, Melissa's parents look like any spirited beatnick youngsters who may or may not know how to play the dulcimer. But take a closer look at her mom's shoes. Says Melissa: "the bows would come off and inside each bow was a little tube of lipstick in a colour that was complimentary with the lovely orange/green/yellow hues of the dress.'"
THAT'S CRAZY TALK.]
LOVE IT
