MK I love you, MK I do...When we're apart my heart beats only for you

Just got back from a short day in SoHo and once again Girl Props did not dissapoint.
So much fabulously adorable jewlery for just about nothing ("Inexpensive...We never say 'Cheap'")
It's on Prince and West Broadway if you're wondering and i definitely recommend checking it out.  Novelty necklaces and earrings as well as just downright pretty pieces.

On top of everything else, it allowed me to get my much sought after Olsen Specs, AKA some knock off Chanel sunglasses that are Mary Kate's favorite.

Don't you wish you were as MK as me?

Look of the Week

Alexander McQueen Resort 2010

"Ah well . . . wand still in your jeans? Both buttocks still on? Okay, let's go. Locomotor Trunk."

For about two weeks now I've been working on a Fashion story based off of the Harry Potter books.  I like to put fake photoshoots or look boards together so that I can get a better idea of what I'm going to have to do in school and get a better idea of where my skill level is right now.
I decided that although I'll probably never get something this perfect in the real world, I might as well have some fun while I still have the chance.
     Characters include:
The Trio (Harry, Ron, and Hermione)
              Luna Lovegood
              Rita Skeeter
              Rubeus Hagrid
              Dolores Umbridge
              Quidditch Players
              Cornelius Fudge (Minister of Magic)
              Bellatrix Lestrange

I was originally going to start asking around about more characters but I've gotten far enough into collecting things and researching that I don't think I want to add another to the mix.
What do I have to do for this little project?  Well, I have to take what I know about each of these characters and channel that into finding clothes that suit their personalities.  I don't want this to be a bunch of copy and paste from the movies so while they are something to fall back on, I'm really relying on  my knowledge of the books and my love of the characters.  For the male characters, I am creating looks for men and women, but mostly women, since this would be (in a perfect world) in a womens magazines.
Right now I'm going through model databases and finding models to "play" each part.

I'm really excited to go through with this.  I cannot wait to see what it's like when I'm done.  It'll probably be in book for as opposed to on boards, just because I really want a lot of looks and it would be atleast 8 boards to show college folk.  YIKES.

for right now I'll leave you with one of my favorite looks

Umbridge never looked so fly.

Can you say "Yes"?

Crystal Renn, model extrordinaire and all around awesome human being is coming out with a book, a memoir to be exact.  September 8th, Hungry, will be hitting a stor near you and you'd best pick it up.

Not familiar with Renn you say?  Let me fill you in...
"When Crystal Renn aspired to be a model as a 14-year-old in Mississippi, an agent told her she had to lose 9 inches off of her hips first.  Renn ended up doing that, and then some, going from 175 lbs and 5' 8" to 95 lbs and an inch and a half taller in two years, eventually moving to New York City and launching a successful modeling career.
After conquering the eating disorder that transformed her body, Renn, now 23, is happy to call herself a size 12 plus-size model, who, with her new curvy figure has walked the runway for Gaultier, graced the pages of Vogue and starred in ads for Dolce & Gabbana."

Keep in mind this is the NEW size 12.  Marilyn was a size 12 but the old 12, which is bigger than what we would consider that to be now.

Need more proof of her beauty? How about some before and afters?
at the height of her eating disorder about 95-105 pounds

NOW
I'm kind of in love with her.  Now I'll admit, there are very skinny models that I do like, but I try to steer clear of the very sickly looking ones.  I've always dissagreed that clothes look the best on the skinniest models; who likes clothes on wire hangers?  No, we use the big wooden ones, or better yet, plushy velveteen hangers that sometimes you would rather hug then see stuffed in your closet.

All three swimsuit pictures are from the May Glamour, of this year.

Cannot WAIT for "Hungry".  Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to finish watching Wuthering Heights and this brownie.

What's that you say?

I'm back! I didn't want to do this blog because I thought I had nothing to say.  I realize now how important it is for me to have somewhere to document various findings and my progress into the fashion world - and while Microsoft Word is great and all, having all this be public can't hurt.

Things wont officially start up for another day or so but I can't wait to start doing this again.
